April Ramp Report

Apex Team Spotlight:

Luke Schultink

If you’ve been out on the ramp at TRL recently, chances are you’ve met Luke Schultink, one of our outstanding line technicians. Originally from Australia, Luke made the big move to the U.S. in May 2019, settling in Texas just a few months later.

Luke’s passion for aviation is clear, he’s a private pilot currently working toward his instrument rating, and he’s been part of the industry since July 2023. We were lucky enough to have him join the Apex team in January 2025.

When Luke isn’t working hard on the ramp, you’ll find him outdoors with his girlfriend Natalie and their border collie, “Runway.” Whether he’s paddleboarding or on the hunt for the best coffee in Texas.

Kyle DeCoster, TRL General Manager, sums it up perfectly:"It's been a pleasure having Luke on our team. He's one of the hardest working people I know and is always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. His work ethic and attitude set a great example here at Apex, and we're lucky to have him."

Next time you're at TRL, be sure to say hello to Luke!

Pilot Stop-In

We had a great visit from News 5 Pilot, Chase Rutledge, at GOK in March! He swung by for fuel while out surveying wildfire damage across the state. Chase was flying his bright yellow Bell Jet Ranger helicopter which is hard to miss on the ramp! Always cool to see familiar faces and sharp aircraft stopping through.

Sunset on the Runway!

There’s nothing quite like a sunset at Platteville Municipal Airport (PVB). The wide-open skies and rolling Wisconsin landscape create the perfect canvas for stunning colors that stretch for miles. Our Apex PVB General Manager Rison Pereira shot this image, thanks for sharing!

Runway Rockstar at GPH

We had a special visitor at Midwest National Air Center (GPH), a 2017 KAMAN K-MAX K-1200! This unique, single-seat, twin-rotor helicopter is built for heavy lifting and precision aerial operations. Known for its unparalleled efficiency in external load missions, the K-MAX stopped in at Apex Aero Center to fuel up before continuing its journey to Georgia.

This distinctive yellow and black aircraft is a true workhorse, frequently used for firefighting, logging, and military operations. Seeing it on our ramp was a real treat for our team!

When you need a quick and convenient fuel stop all of our locations are ready to serve you!

Spring is here and it's time to enjoy some nature!

We scoped out some amazing hiking trails close to all of our Apex locations
