“Team Spotlight” Alex Long, General Manager - CBF

Launching a new FBO takes more than just opening the doors—it takes vision, attention to detail, and a team committed to getting it right from day one. That’s exactly what’s happening at Apex Aero Center CBF under the leadership of General Manager Alex Long.

Alex’s interest in aviation began with a fascination for how aircraft connect people and places around the world. But what really drew him in wasn’t just the aircraft—it was everything happening behind the scenes. Alex said, “The combination of technology and teamwork required to keep aviation running smoothly is what really pulled me in.”

That early curiosity quickly turned into a career path. Alex found himself drawn to the FBO side of the industry, where operations and customer experience intersect. It’s an environment that demands both precision and a service mindset—supporting pilots, passengers, and aircraft while keeping everything running efficiently. Over time, he developed a strong foundation in operations, leadership, and customer service, all of which prepared him to take on the challenge of leading a new operation at CBF.

Now, as General Manager, Alex is embracing the opportunity to build something from the ground up. “The early stages of a new base are always exciting,” he explained. “Every improvement helps shape the long-term success of the operation.” From day one, his focus has been on establishing strong operational standards, developing a positive and motivated team culture, and creating an experience that pilots and passengers can rely on every time they visit.

A big part of that vision centers around people—both the team and the customers they serve. In these early months, Alex is prioritizing team development and building strong relationships with operators and pilots coming through CBF. He understands that each interaction, no matter how small, contributes to the reputation of the operation.

When it comes to defining a great FBO experience, Alex keeps it straightforward. “A great FBO experience comes down to professionalism and anticipating customer needs,” he said, noting that attention to detail and pride in the work make a lasting impression. That consistency is what builds trust with pilots and passengers over time.

It’s also what makes working at an airport so rewarding. For Alex, the energy and variety of the environment are unmatched. No two days are the same—each shift brings different aircraft, different crews, and new challenges to solve. Being part of a team that keeps aviation moving safely and efficiently is something he takes pride in. Some of his most memorable experiences have come from working charter operations and large-scale events across the country. “It’s always rewarding to see your team succeed while keeping customers happy,” he added.

Like many in aviation, Alex also has an appreciation for the aircraft themselves. While it’s hard to pick just one, he’s particularly drawn to Vision Jets for their combination of performance, efficiency, and thoughtful design. Still, he’ll tell you one of the best parts of working at an FBO is the variety—every aircraft brings something new to learn.

Outside of work, Alex enjoys exploring new restaurants, learning new skills, and traveling whenever he gets the chance. Some of his favorite destinations include Dallas, New Orleans, and Destin, but he’s always looking ahead to the next adventure—with Japan currently on his bucket list.

For those considering a career in aviation, Alex offers simple but valuable advice: stay curious and take every opportunity to learn. “Aviation offers so many different paths,” he said. “The more hands-on experience you gain and the more relationships you build, the more doors it can open.”

Looking ahead, Alex is excited not only about what’s being built at CBF, but also about the future of aviation as a whole. With new technology continuing to shape the industry, he sees opportunity for growth and innovation across all aspects of the business.

At Apex Aero Center CBF, that future is already taking shape. With a strong foundation, a growing team, and a clear vision, Alex Long is helping build an operation focused on doing things the right way—one arrival, one departure, and one customer at a time.
