February Ramp Report

Warm Up at the Platteville Chili Fly-In & Drive-In!

Mark your calendars for a winter event that’s sure to bring the heat! On Saturday, February 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the Platteville Municipal Airport is hosting a Fly-In/Drive-In Chili Feed. This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow aviators, enjoy a hearty meal, and embrace the spirit of winter flying.

We’ll be serving Culver’s famous chili and desserts until 2:00 p.m. or until the food runs out, so arrive hungry! Donations are appreciated, and all proceeds will support future community events. For those looking to make it extra exciting, ski planes are welcome to join the fun, though landings are at your own risk.

Not flying in? No problem! Drive on over and join us for this gathering of aviation enthusiasts. The event will take place at Platteville Municipal Airport, 5157 State Rd 80, Platteville, WI 53818. Whether you’re a pilot, a passenger, or just a fan of aviation, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

If you have any questions or need more details, feel free to contact PVB General Manager Rison Pereira at rpereira@apexaerocenter.com. We look forward to seeing you there, come for the chili, stay for the stories!

Employee Spotlight!

TRL General Manager Kyle DeCoster

Kyle DeCoster’s love for aviation took flight at an early age, inspired by his father’s 24 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. Growing up on various Air Force bases surrounded by aircraft and attending airshows sparked his passion for aviation.

At age 12, Kyle’s father retired and took a civilian role at RAF Mildenhall in the United Kingdom, where Kyle spent two years immersed in the aviation-rich environment. Today, as the new General Manager of Apex Aero Center at TRL, Kyle reflects on how life has come full circle—from living on a RAF base to managing an airport where RAF pilots trained during WWII.

Kyle brings four years of FBO experience to his role. He began as a Line Service Technician for Atlantic Aviation at Wiley Post Airport (KPWA) in Bethany, Oklahoma. He later moved to Texas, where he worked as the Safety and Training Manager at Galaxy FBO at Addison Airport (KADS).

Outside of work, Kyle is a proud Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan. Watching football has been a lifelong passion. Another passion is cooking—Kyle loves preparing meals for others and finds joy in seeing their faces light up when they enjoy his food. From hearty classics to creative dishes, he’s always ready to bring people together over a good meal.

Kyle also shares his free time with his loyal companion, Appa, a Golden Retriever who truly lives up to the title of "man’s best friend."

Now leading the Apex Aero Center at TRL, Kyle is eager to elevate the airport as a hub of aviation excellence. His vision includes fostering growth, collaboration, and innovation to benefit the airport and the greater Terrell community.

Welcome aboard, Kyle! We’re thrilled to have you leading the team at TRL.

A Sweet Celebration

A huge thank-you to Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport for helping us celebrate our first year in business at GOK! We couldn’t have asked for better partners or a more thoughtful gesture. The custom donuts spelling out "Apex Aero Center" were as creative as they were delicious!

Here’s to many more years of growth, collaboration, and serving the aviation community together.
